As the world's oldest blown glass producer and one of the world's longest-running family businesses - Italian Venetian crystal lighting brand Barovier&Toso's new products this year are a must-see. Since its foundation in 1295, Barovier&Toso has inherited the art of Venetian blown crystal, which has been refined by water and fire on the Venetian island of Murano, giving birth to dazzling combinations of colors and forms, as well as bright and pure radiance. Barovier&Toso's product line covers different styles from classical to modern, and this year's new products are also full of surprises. Let's take a look together.

1 Campanula

Campanula: Desinged by the renowned García Cumini studio. Gentle beauty that originates in echoes of nature, with its ability to multiply, always in new, spontaneous ways. Themodular design of this collection combines the tradition of craftsmanship with a contemporary, lively approach tocomposition. There are as many as eight versions, alternating the modules and their respective textures, varying theimage and the size. Poised and elegant, the suspensions extend into space, following a primarily vertical axis. Theprotagonist is Venetian Crystal, bright and hypnotic, a perfect embodiment of a floral archetype.

2 Clepsydra

Clepsydra: Designed by Barovier&Toso. Symmetry and order generate very elegant suspension lamps of magical charm. These are intense, brightcompositions, obtained through multiplication of a single element, linking back to a design from the 1960scontained in the historical archives of Barovier&Toso. With sinuous forms for perfect matching, the hourglassesare made with the age-old Rigadin technique. The glass is blown inside a mould known as a “fracco”, producingslender ribbing along the entire surface of the object. Thanks to these lines, every suspension lamp triggers adance of luminous reflections.

3 Empire

Empire: Designed by Barovier&Toso. Clouds of tubes with a square cross-section form pyramid-shaped suspensions, inspired by the rigorous and energeticgeometric stylings typical of Art Deco. The parts are overlaid and juxtaposed, with different lengths and a rhythmicalalternation of colours in the polychrome versions. The luminous effect is soft but punctuated by sparkling highlightsproduced by particular refractions. The games of light are produced by the slightly undulated surfaces of the tubes, obtained by means of a special technique known as a corteccia. The lamps are made by hand with the aid of a metalmould, whose irregularities are transferred onto the glass during the blowing procedure.

4 Germogli

Germogli: An enclosure of luminous reeds dominates the setting, wrapped by the leaves of climbing plants, entirely in Venetian Crystal. The drawings on which the collection of suspension lamps is based date back to the 1980s, stored in the historical archives of Barovier&Toso. The light source is double, inside single elements and inserted in the upper metalplate. The light brings out the refined design of the glass and its compositions, conveying a sense of elegance that issimultaneously lightness and opulence. The compositions are surprising and eclectic: circular or oval, with a concentricform or a more complex geometric arrangement, like the spiral version which is perfect for spaces with very high ceilings.

5 Punk

Punk: Poetry and lightness coexist in this bold, novel collection that takes its inspiration from the stylistic expressionsof the 1950s and 1960s. Roberto Lazzeroni interprets the dialogue between tradition and modernity, buildingan interpretation poetically connected to this familiar imagery. Like splinters, the tiles in Venetian Crystalcombine irony and rigor. Visibly anchored to the structural ring, they screen the light source and establishproportional relationships of remarkable impact.

6 Domus collection

The Domus collection is the first collaboration between Barovier&Toso and Ginori 1735. Designed by Luca Nichetto, it represents aperfect fusion between contemporary design, traditional Italian craftsmanship and the highestquality materials, which translate into an exclusive and prestigious furnishing experience. Every single piece in the collection is an interpreter of therituals of our time, perfectly suited to give pleasure to the home and to hospitality.

Sideris: Touch the sky with a finger - Galileo Galilei centuries ago dared to point the telescope upwards to measure the immensity of the sky, making revolutionary discoveries. The Sideris reading lamp is a tribute to Galileo’s courage. The porcelain base, available in gold or platinum, supports a hand-blown Venetian crystal sphere preciously made with a double layer of gold or silver leaf. From the meeting of these unique elements a luminous revolution is born, a functional and decorative object that transforms a timeless gesture into a table lamp.

Trinitas: It is based on the Renaissance concept of three becoming one, the foundation ofuniversal beauty. In Trinitas each component of the object blends together to create anaesthetic harmony. The Trinitas lamp is portable, rechargeable and adapts with simplicityand elegance to any environment, also making it ideal for completing a mise en place. Threemouth-blown Venetian crystal elements come together on a porcelain tray supported by agold-plated semi-opaque metal arch. The ballotòn, rigadìn and rigamenà textures present onthe crystals pay homage to the Murano tradition. Available in three colors with adjustablelight intensity, Trinitas is entirely handmade, making each piece unique and unrepeatable.

Conterie floor lamp: It draws inspirationfrom the porcelain jewels of the Ginori1735 Manifattura historical archive. Itsstructure is composed of precious hand-crafted porcelain beads and mouth-blownVenetian crystal with different textures, the result of three different craftsmanship, ballotòn, rigadìn and rigamenà. The lightdiffuses softly from the Murano glass cone, which takes up the symmetrical shape ofthe porcelain base. Like a necklace thatilluminates the wearer’s face, Conterie isable to illuminate the home with its delicatelight.

The creations of Barovier&Toso are one-of-a-kindworks in Venetian mouth blown Crystal and handcrafted by master artisans in Murano, custodiansof an age-old tradition passed down across thegenerations.

Over the past centuries, trends and fashions have come and gone, as if in a noisy bazaar where everyone is screaming at the top of their lungs to become the latest focus. Barovier&Toso, on the contrary, like the lagoon, the sand and the flames of the furnaces on the islands of Venice, everything is subject to the slow refinement of time, following the rhythms and beauty of nature, which is why this year Barovier&Toso draws a great deal of inspiration from the historical archives and from nature.
